A post on Threads or a short video can bring someone to Telegram for a guide, additional examples, or a continuation of the topic. After the transition, they need to find the promised material, understand the offer, and know where to ask a question. Later, they may visit the product website, register, or purchase access.
The number of new subscribers shows only one stage. To evaluate the result of promotion, you need to understand what happens after someone joins the channel: how many people read the materials, who asks questions, and at what stage people stop interacting.
In this article, we will look at how to organize the audience journey from an external publication to the target action, check individual stages, and simplify repetitive work in Telegram.

Step 1: Fulfill the promise of the original publication
A person moves to Telegram with a specific expectation. For example, the author of a short video promises a detailed breakdown of a tool, while the channel publishes a guide with settings and examples. In that case, the guide should be available immediately after the transition.
Prepare the entry point before launching promotion:
-
place the promised material in a pinned message or easy-to-find navigation;
-
add a clear channel name and description;
-
provide a direct link to the required publication if the person is coming for specific information;
-
explain where to ask a question about the topic.
If the publication leads to the channel's main page with a large number of posts, the person will have to search for the continuation on their own. A link to the specific material shortens this path.

Choose a communication format
A channel, group, and private conversation are suitable for different tasks.
A channel is used to publish guides, news, and sequential materials. Readers can return to them whenever needed.
A group is suitable for discussing publications and participants' questions. Telegram allows you to link a discussion group to a channel. This format is convenient when answers to questions may be useful to other readers.
Private messaging is needed for individual inquiries. You can specify a work account or enable direct messages for the channel. The latter option appeared in Telegram on June 3, 2025. Subscribers can write to the administration using a dedicated button, and the messages arrive in a separate interface. The setting is located in the channel settings under Direct Messages.

Choose one primary communication method and show it in the appropriate place. A person should understand how to ask a question after reading the material.
Step 2: Separate clicks, subscriptions, and target actions
A person's journey consists of several stages:
-
They see a publication on an external social network.
-
They open the Telegram link.
-
They join the channel or group.
-
They find the required material and review the offer.
-
They ask a question or go to the product website.
-
They complete the target action, such as registering or paying for access.
Each stage has its own metrics. Views of the external post show the publication's reach, the number of joins reflects the result of the transition to Telegram, while registrations and payments belong to the next stage.
Separate traffic sources
Prepare separate Telegram invite links for different platforms and publication series. For example, you can create one link for Threads and another for short videos on a different social network. This makes it easier to distinguish the sources of joins.
Telegram allows you to obtain information about users who joined through a specific link. Access to this data depends on permissions and the tool being used. Detailed channel statistics are also available when Telegram's requirements are met, including channel-size requirements.
If a link from Telegram leads to your own website, add UTM tags to it. These URL parameters allow web analytics to identify the traffic source and campaign. For example, you can specify the source, traffic type, and publication-series name.
The data should still be read by stage. An invite link helps distinguish joins in Telegram, while UTM tags relate to website visits and subsequent actions recorded by web analytics.

Define the target action in advance
Before publishing the link, decide what result the project needs. In one scenario it may be a registration, in another a visit to the product page or a purchase.
If you promote a digital product through an affiliate link, the target action may be a registration or a paid transaction. PartnerShare tracks clicks, registrations, and transactions for affiliate campaigns and automatically calculates rewards.
Record where each metric is captured. Then, after launch, you will be able to compare the number of joins with the result at the next stage.
What a real Threads-to-Telegram journey looks like
In an analysis dated August 28, 2026, Cpa.Rip described the promotion of a private YouTube-focused club. The author published content on Threads about making money on YouTube and directed the audience to Telegram. The Telegram channel contained breakdowns, examples, and offers to buy access to the private club for $333.
At the time the analysis was published, the author had about 1.7K followers and roughly 1.3 million recent views on Threads. The Telegram channel had about 8.8K subscribers. The Cpa.Rip editorial team also contacted the author directly and received an offer to purchase access to the club.
The material shows a clear sequence of actions: external content attracts attention, Telegram continues the topic, and then the author offers paid access.
The editorial team checked the financial side separately. It compared transfers to a crypto wallet with the club's presumed payments, but noted that the exact revenue could not be established. Payment by bank card was also available, and the purpose of some transfers could not be confirmed unambiguously. The economics of the projects shown by the author in the case studies could not be verified either.
This example shows how the route from publication to offer is structured. The author's metrics are not a ready-made benchmark for evaluating social-media traffic in any other project. For your own audience, clicks, inquiries, and target actions must be measured separately.

Step 3: Organize the handling of incoming questions
After the transition, a person may have questions about the product, setup, or terms of use. The project needs to preserve the context of the inquiry and provide a clear answer.
Start with your own conversations. After the first inquiries, collect recurring questions and prepare materials that help answer them faster. For each question, it is useful to have a guide, a description of the appropriate scenario, and the next step if the person needs additional help.
For example, if users regularly ask how to get started with a tool, prepare a short first-launch guide. If questions concern restrictions or compatibility, state the confirmed conditions and explain where they can be checked.
Decide who handles messages
If incoming messages arrive on several work accounts, assign responsibility in advance. It should be clear which account the conversation started on, who prepares the reply, and where previous messages can be found.
Also take Telegram's rules for private communication into account. Recipients may complain about unwanted private messages, including advertising and invite links. After complaints are reviewed, the account may be restricted. The workflow should therefore take the context of the inquiry and the recipient's expectations into account.
A channel subscriber, a group participant, and a person in a private conversation are at different stages of interaction. A subscription by itself does not open a private dialogue with a work account. Provide an appropriate communication channel for questions and check incoming messages regularly.
Which tasks can be simplified with Telegram Expert
When a project works with several audience sources and work accounts, the same operations are repeated: finding relevant communities, studying discussions, handling incoming messages, and checking the results of completed tasks.
For these operations, you can use Telegram Soft Expert, software for automating work in Telegram. It includes chat and channel search, audience collection, an autoresponder, tools for working with open dialogs, and reporting features.
Find relevant communities and study discussions
The Global Search module lets you search for groups, channels, and users by keywords. This can be useful when you need to find communities related to the topic of an external publication and study the content of their discussions.

To study activity in a specific chat, you can collect users who posted messages in it. This list relates to the selected chat and the data collected for the corresponding period. It helps you study discussion participants and prepare a separate working database.

This operation is useful for analyzing topic-specific conversations. By itself, it does not show who came to your channel from Threads or another social network. The subscription source should be tracked using Telegram's own tools.
Handle incoming messages from multiple accounts
For recurring scenarios, Telegram Expert includes an Autoresponder module. It can be used to send an automatic reply in a predefined scenario. Before launch, check the content of the reply so that it matches the question and does not promise anything the product cannot guarantee.

The Forwarder module sends incoming replies to a workgroup and lets the team send replies to clients. This helps the team handle messages from multiple accounts in a shared workspace.

If you need to return to an existing conversation, you can use the Open Dialogs module. It is intended for working with users who already have a conversation history on the account.

Choose the function for the specific operation. The autoresponder helps handle predefined reply scenarios, the forwarder simplifies work with incoming messages, and open dialogs apply to existing conversations.
Check the results of completed operations
After launch, it is important to check which actions completed successfully and what data was obtained. Telegram Soft Expert includes a results calculator and an HTML report generator for completed mailings and invitations. The report is generated from the saved results database.

This data helps evaluate the completion of a specific task in Telegram Expert. To analyze views of external publications, joins to your own channel, registrations, and purchases, use the metrics from the platforms where the corresponding actions occur.
How to check where the audience stops interacting
After launch, compare the observed results with the original plan. If the expected action is rare, first check the stage closest to it.
|
What you see after launch |
What to check |
|
The external publication gets views, but few people move to Telegram |
Is the benefit of making the transition clearly explained, does the link work, and does the call to action match the post content? |
|
People move to Telegram but rarely join |
Do the channel name and description match the promise of the publication, and is the required material easy to access? |
|
There are subscriptions, but little interaction |
Is the continuation of the topic visible, is navigation convenient, and is it clear where to ask a question? |
|
People ask questions but do not register |
Does the product match their task, are the terms and instructions available, and is the next step clear? |
|
There is activity in Telegram, but sales are not visible in the report |
Where are registration or payment recorded, is the affiliate link correct, and what data is available in the affiliate program report? |
Check one problem point at a time. For example, if the link leads to a channel with a large number of publications, start by improving the entry point. If people are already asking questions, see whether the answers help them move to the required action.
Workflow after launch
For the first launch, it is enough to prepare a sequence of actions and decide in advance where to look for the result of each stage.
-
Write down what continuation the external publication promises and place the corresponding material in Telegram.
-
Prepare separate invite links for different sources or publication series.
-
Choose a communication method: group discussion, private contact, or channel messages.
-
After the first inquiries, collect real user questions and prepare answers with instructions.
-
As the number of work accounts grows, use the appropriate Telegram Soft Expert functions for handling messages and working with existing conversations.
-
Compare data on joins, completed operations, registrations, and purchases. For each metric, it should be clear where it is recorded.
This sequence helps identify which stage needs improvement. After that, you can change the entry point, the content of the material, the communication method, or the offer and test the result again.
FAQ
Can you message every new channel subscriber?
Subscribing to a channel does not by itself open a private dialogue with a work account. For questions, you can enable direct messages for the channel, link the channel to a discussion group, or specify a work contact. In private communication, take the recipient's expectations and Telegram's rules into account.
Do you need a separate discussion group?
A group is useful if public questions and communication between participants matter to the project. It is not required for publishing materials. For individual inquiries, you can provide a private contact or enable channel messages.
If people subscribe but do not buy, does that mean the traffic source is not working?
The number of subscriptions alone cannot evaluate the entire journey. Check whether people find the promised material, interact with publications, ask questions, and go to the product page. Then compare those actions with registration and payment data.
Can Telegram Expert show the number of sales from an affiliate link?
Telegram Soft Expert reports are intended to evaluate completed operations, including mailings and invitations. Clicks, registrations, and transactions for an affiliate campaign are tracked in the affiliate platform's system. PartnerShare provides separate campaign metrics for this purpose.
What is the Open Dialogs module for?
It is intended for working with users who already have a conversation history on the account. The module is suitable for scenarios where it is appropriate to continue communication and there is a relevant reason to contact the person.
